The Cool Air™ air-conditioner is the first modern Freon Air Conditioner system approved for the 500 and 600 Twin Commanders utilizing R-134A refrigerant. The unit's weight is only 57 pounds, and is fully electric allowing the pilot to ground cool his aircraft with a GPU prior to engine start. You have 38 degree air within five minutes at air vents. The condenser module is rated at 16,500 BTU and is remotely mounted behind the baggage compartment. The evaporator and blower fan are mounted where the optional hat shelf is fitted. This allows for complete use of the baggage floor area. Cool air is ducted into the cabin and dispersed with individual air outlets for each crewmember and passenger. The controls are within easy reach of the pilot. There is a three-speed fan switch for cabin comfort. The electrical system is protected with automatic load shedding for safety. Same compressor/electric motor as installed in Citation 650 Business Jet.
